The terrain was the first challenge. There were no roads leading directly to the garden — vehicles could only access a single staging point, and the final stretch of equipment and materials had to be carried on foot for nearly an hour. Each trip transporting materials up the mountain was measured in man-days, not hours. Construction had to be completed in a single trip because returning for a single detail would take an extra day.

The second challenge lies in the local infrastructure. At an altitude of 1,800m, mobile phone signals are unreliable, the power grid isn't always available, and the climate is cold and humid year-round—things that city dwellers don't have to worry about. The cameras installed there still need to be able to connect to the network, survive the rainy season, and allow the gardener to review the footage at any time from their phone.

The operational requirement is the third—and most important—problem. The ginseng garden is valuable; you need to know who enters and exits, when they enter, and what they do within the area. Ka doesn't need to monitor it 24/7—he needs to be able to review the footage, in the correct frame, if something happens.

The Quang Duc technical team conducted a field survey before bringing in the equipment. Surveying in this kind of terrain isn't just about measuring distances—you have to go around the entire area to understand the pathways, the slopes, which large trees are obstructing the view, and where to place the cameras to both monitor the garden and hide them from prying eyes.

The camera placement was finalized after walking around the garden several times. The wiring followed an existing path, avoiding cutting across the planted area—both to prevent disturbing the trees and to make future maintenance easier. The entire infrastructure is compact at a central point, protected from rain and the cold temperatures of the high mountains.

The construction work was meticulously planned so that the hardware could be completed in a single trip. The team pulled wires, installed cameras, connected components, and packaged the control system — everything in challenging terrain required discipline to avoid having to return.

Finally, there's the playback configuration. Ka opens the app on his phone and sees his garden—whether he's sitting in Tam Ky, Da Nang, or anywhere with an internet connection. He can watch live streams, review footage from previous days, and if anything goes wrong, he can review the footage.

Mr. Ka can monitor his ginseng garden from the lowlands. He doesn't have to wait for each trip up the mountain to know what's happening, or guess if anything is amiss — he just opens his phone and gets the answer. A garden in the most inaccessible place in Quang Nam is still within the owner's sight.

This project also demonstrates that Quang Duc can handle even the most challenging installation projects — where careful surveying and construction discipline are far more important than a list of equipment on paper.
